Puerto Rico Wedding Weekend

This past weekend I was in Puerto Rico for my cousin’s wedding.  It was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time with amazing weather, gorgeous pools and beach, and good food.  The best part was that there was a great balance of spending time with my family (almost all of  my mom’s family was there!) and pool time with my book (read one and a half books from the Hunger Games).  Between the sun and the time dancing, drinking and eating with my family it was amazing.  Here are some highlights:

Traditional Puerto Rican food at the rehearsal dinner: shredded pork, chicken, mixed vegetables and plantains (my favs!)

Quote of the night: “I don’t go to the casino to lose cupcakes” -Matt running back to the casino because he left his cupcakes there.

The day after the wedding, my sister, Matt and I went to Old San Juan to explore.  Authentic Puerto Rican food might be the best greasy hangover food;-)

I can’t believe that just a few days ago I was soaking up the sun in Puerto Rico.  Now I am back to cold and rainy New York and daydreaming about the palm trees.

What was the last trip you took?

  1. Love the Matt quote.

Was that fondant icing on the cupcakes too?

My last trip was to cold New York, and you weren’t there! :( Next time!

  2. Wow, that looks like an incredible weekend!! I wish one of my friends/relatives would have a destination wedding :) Great excuse to travel!!

  3. Ahhh so much fun! Nothing like a good destination wedding…not that I would know, but I can imagine. Puerto rican food is definitely greasy but totally delicious. The plantains are just…best things on earth. So glad that you had a good time! Now. If only you could have brought the warm weather back with you…

  4. What a great post! You’ve captured such great moments! It looks like you had the perfect short get-away. But where can I get some of that PR bread???? :)

  5. I really enjoyed the photos and reading about your time in Puerto Rico. My husband and I are seriously considering vacationing there in 2012, but we haven’t decided for sure.

The last trip we took was about 1 year ago when we took a road trip out west with my folks. We had a wonderful time, saw a lot of amazing places, and have many beautiful memories.

Anyway, maybe we’ll get to experience old San Juan, the beaches, and those beautiful palm trees next year. We’ll see. :)

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the post! That was my first trip to Puerto Rico and I really enjoyed it. We were there for a long weekend but if we had more time I would have loved to do some hiking that is supposedly really great around there.
